Timmins Mountjoy Solar
Development
Project

a proposed 30.01 MWdc solar energy generation facility in the Township of Timmins.

Project Overview

The Timmins Mountjoy Solar Project’s proposed design capacity is 30.01 MWdc and is located outside the Township of Timmins, ON. The municipal address is 715 Dalton Road, Timmins, Ontario. Timmins received its Municipal Support Resolution from The Township of Timmins to submit a proposal for IESO LT2(e-1) RFP.

The Project will seek local farmers to graze their sheep herds, thereby improving land biodiversity through natural weed control. Bee hives will be added to the land enhancing pollination, improving soil health, and increasing crop yield.

Project Benefits

  • Provides community benefits revenue to local government and First Nation land the Project is located on.
  • Create local employment and contracting opportunities during the development, construction, operation, and decommissioning phases of the Project.
  • Increase revenue to local businesses due to economic spinoff from Project activities.
  • Produce emission-free electricity that will both increase energy security and displace generation from fossil fuels, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
